MARINE FISH (MARKETING) (AMENDMENT) BILL 1987
4. Section 5(3) of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting "shall be liable to a fine of $1,000" and substituting the following-

"commits an offence and is liable to a fine of 10,000”.
Section 7(2) of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting "shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine of $500" and substituting the following-

"commits an offence and is liable to a fine of $5,000".
Sections 9(1) and 13(a) of the principal Ordinance are amended by
deleting "the Colony" and substituting the following—

“Hong Kong”.
Section 15(2) of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting "$500" and substituting the following-
"$5,000".
Explanatory Memorandum
The main objects of this Bill are to amend the Marine Fish (Marketing) Ordinance-
(a) by increasing the maximum fines from $500 to $5,000 and from
$1,000 to $10,000;
(b) in section 3(1) by removing the offence of buying marine fish wholesale other than at a wholesale fish market and by making it an offence to "offer or expose for sale" or "possess for the purpose of sale", by wholesale, marine fish otherwise than at a wholesale fish market; and
(c) by changing references to "the Colony" to "Hong Kong".
