MULTILATERAL INVESTMENT GUARANTEE AGENCY (MIGA)
Problem
1.
The approval of a Foreign & Commonwealth Office Minister is required for the attached draft Order, with a view to its being
"made" at the meeting of the Privy Council on 27 April. Documents
for that meeting are required to be received at the Privy Council Office by noon on 20 April.
Recommendation
2. I recommend that Mr Patten should approve the draft Order.
he agrees, he should write the word "Approved" and sign his name
in the space indicated at the top of the first page.

The MIGA Act came into force today, when the Chancellor of
the Exchequer deposited our Instrument of Ratification in Washington. Clause 9(4) of the Act makes provision for extending
Clauses 3, 4, 5 and 6 "to any of the Channel Islands, the Isle of
