Mr. Corbyn: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and ( nonwealth Affairs what meetings Her Majesty's Government's representatives in Pakistan have had with representatives of the Pakistan People's Party and other opposition parties in the last year.
Mr. Eggar: Her Majesty's ambassador to Pakistan has met most of the main opposition leaders. In addition, members of staff at the embassy in Islamabad and the consulate-general in Karachi have contacts at all levels with a wide range of opposition politicians.

Mr. Sidney Clarke
Mr. Corbyn: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what contacts with the Government of Thailand have been made in respect of Mr. Sidney Clarke, a British prisoner; whether a King's pardon has been applied for; and if he is satisfied with the medical attention Mr. Clarke is receiving.
Mr. Eggar: Her Majesty's embassy in Bangkok have been in contact with the appropriate Thai authorities in connection with both Mr. Clarke's royal pardon application and medical attention for him.
Our consular staff visit Mr. Clarke regularly, and officials in Britain maintain close touch with his family.
Mr. Clarke's application for a King's pardon was submitted in June 1986. The embassy has established that it has reached the royal household.
There is a prison doctor available. Where necessary the Thai prison authorities arrange for prisoners to receive treatment in outside hospitals. Mr. Clarke has declined to consult the prison doctor. He recently agreed, however, to see a local British doctor if the embassy can obtain the necessary permission from the Thai prison authorities. The embassy has applied for this.

Mr. Corbyn: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make representations to the President Praesidium of the Supreme People's Council of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen to seek clemency for the 35 people that have been sentenced to death in connection with the attempted coup.
Mr. Mellor: On behalf of the Twelve, the EC Presidency representative in Aden made a demarche on humanitarian grounds to the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen authorities on behalf of the five people in detention whose death sentences were ratified. However, we understand that those five were executed soon after that ratification.

Dr. Marek: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will give the fees or remuneration received by the renewable resources assessment group at Imperial college, London for the work undertaken for the Falkland Islands Government in connection with the issue of fishing licences for use in the Falkland Islands conservation zone.
Mr. Eggar: The fees paid to the Renewable Resources Assessment Group at Imperial college are met from the Falkland Islands Government's scientific budget which for 1987-88 is £265,000. The terms of the contract under which RRAG provides scientific advice to the Falkland Islands Government are commercially confidential.

French Ambassador
Mr. Wareing: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he last had discussions with the French ambassador; if middle east problems were discussed; and when he next intends to meet the ambassador.
Mrs. Chalker: My right hon. and learned Friend encounters the French ambassador regularly, but has had no recent discussion of the middle east with him. He has no plans for a meeting specifically with the French ambassador in the near future.
