HONG KONG DEBATE: PRESS REPORTS

1. Lord Glenarthur was grateful for your efforts to persuade Mr George Walden MP to write something positive about Hong Kong (your minute of 12 July below). He remains concerned that public comment is almost exclusively negative. He would be grateful if Hong Kong Department and News Department could consider other possible candidates who might produce an article or two. If there are no obvious established gurus, sees advantage in getting the right sort of person interested in the subject, rather as we have done with eg Lady Young and Lady Ewart-Biggs on the Parliamentary front.
