HONG KONG: DEBATE IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS
ì. Sir Peter Blaker MP called on Lord Glenarthur this morning at his own request to discuss Cambodia. He also talked briefly about tomorrow's debate on Hong Kong.
2. Sır P Blaker said that he was now personally sympathetic to the idea of direct elections in 1988 given apparent developments (presumably described to him by Mr Martin Lee) over the SAR Government. Lord Glenarthur indicated that it would be most unfortunate if Sir P Blaker were to switch horses on this issue during the debate, and urged him to support the line the Secretary of State would be taking. Sir P Blaker appeared willing to do this.
