PRU
RELATIONS WITH PARLIAMENT: CONTACTS WITH MPs
1. We have considered your minute of 1 March calling for subjects Ministers might select for briefing groups of MPs. But we have concluded that we should give you a nil return.
2. Our reasons are: a) the Secretary of State has addressed MPS on Japan recently; b) a session on China would quickly become one on Hong Kong on which there has been a debate recently; c) a debriefing on Korea would be better after a longer Ministerial visit than was possible while Lord Glearthur was there for the Presidential inauguration; d) there is nothing for Ministers to say on Mongolia ( field doubtless covered well among his colleagues by Mr Kenneth Warren MP following his Round Table in Ulan Bator last September).
3.
We should like to reconsider in the autumn.
