Background
Mr Eggar answered a question on 18 November 1987 about the Secretary of State's plans to visit the PRC.
During his visit to the UK in March, the then Chinese Foreign Minister Wu Xueqian, invited the Secretary of State and
at the time Lady Howe to visit China. No dates were mentioned and none detse have since been arranged.

Since the visit to the UK, Wu Xueqian, he has been promoted to Vice-Premier. He has been replaced as Minister of Foreign Affairs by Qian Qichen.
