VISIT OF LORD GLENARTHUR TO HONG KONG: 7-11 JANUARY 1989
Work is already well in hand, but for the record I attach the agreed list of briefs for this visit together with an indication of who will be responsible for drafting or producing each item.

Please note that the aim is to keep these briefs as clear and concise as possible. One page (maximum) of points to make and two pages (maximum) of background. As before you should distinguish

The deadline for submission of briefs in final form is close of play on Thursday, 22 December, but absences in the week beginning 19 December mean that we are going to have to finalise our briefs by Friday, 16 December. It would be helpful if I could see drafts by Friday, 9 December so that I can pass them to Mr Hum to look at on his return after the weekend. Try to ensure that these deadlines do not slip: otherwise typing and finalising the briefs next week could become an unpleasant rush.
