The British Trade Commission is well housed on the 9th floor of

the Bank of America tower block. A new three year lease was negotiated in April 1988 at a rent of £214,000 pa. Following closure of the Press Research Unit in November, two surplus offices are to

be sublet.

The Office of the Senior Representative to the Joint Liaison Group opened on 1 July 1988. The premises are leased and the rent

of £75,000 pa is likely to rise significantly on review in June

1989.

STC'S RESIDENCE

The Senior Trade Commissioner lives in a hiring taken in March 1986 on a 3 year lease. The property is slightly underscale and the

rent is £48,600.pa.

RESIDENTIAL ACCOMMODATION

There are 25 other post rented properties, nearly all of them unfurnished. Rents range from £12,000 pa (DS9-10) to £26,000 pa

(DS4).

FURNITURE AND FURNISHINGS

OED supply furniture to the BTC, JLG and SLO offices, and to DS4 residential accommodation, mainly through the Crown Suppliers' office in Hong Kong. The Post furnish the remainder through their

local budget. We know of no major problems.
