RELATIONS WITH PARLIAMENT : TARGETTED DRINKS PARTIES
1.
I am sorry that a visit to India last week has delayed my response to your minute of 14 April about targetted drinks parties. Lord Glenarthur's views on the relative merits of the list of possible subjects you attached to your minute are as follows:
1. Hong Kong. Taking place today.
2.
Australia/New Zealand. Worth doing after Lord Glenarthur's visit to New Zealand (9-13 May) and before his visit to China in mid-June.
The Sub-Continent. Very soon after his visit to New Zealand, and a higher priority than 2. above.
3.
ASEAN. Best combined with Indo China. Worth doing after those listed above.
4.
5. Training and Personnel Management (including Security of Establishments Overseas. Lord Glenarthur is not convinced that a targetted drinks party would serve any useful purpose. But he would be open to argument.
6.
Law of the Sea. Not keen.
