Ms Slater (with Ms Foulds' minute of 28 July)
Ms Foulds
COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTS
1.
Your minute of 28 July to Mr Holdich and others. Hong Kong, which is (until 1997) a British dependent territory, has a Legislative Council rather than a Parliament, although I am advised by Mr Edgerton in CCD that the Hong Kong Legislative Council is a full member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
2.
I attach an extract from the latest official Hong Kong yearbook, from which it would appear that Legislative Council sessions last from around the beginning of October to the end of July, meeting in public once a week, ie on about 44 days per year. No doubt the Hong Kong Government Office in London or Hong Kong Government could provide more details if required.
