Foreign Affairs Committee Enquiries

Mr Michael Jopling told the Secretary of State today that the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee was thinking of reporting either on Hong Kong or South Africa as their next assignment. They had not yet reached a conclusion and the Committee might wish to talk further with the Secretary of State before they did so. Mr Jopling said his own instinct was that Hong Kong was a safer bet than South Africa. Secretary of State commented that South Africa was becoming progressively less unsafe. Nonetheless the Secretary of State thinks we should pay heed to Mr Jopling's advice.
