Father Lancelot said he now had just over 500 Vietnamese refugees in the camp run by the Catholic Relief Service. They had been there for many years (nowadays any boats that arrived were re-provisioned and moved on). occupants of the camp were free to work outside and even to live outside; evening classes in English were one of the main reasons they preferred to stay in the camp.
He thought that when Canada and the United States had taken a couple of hundred more refugees the Macao Government would allow the rest to integrate.

I gave an interview to the local television and another for the radio. said British companies would be keen to hear about the projects planned for Macao. Whether they would wish to take part would depend on their commercial judgement. However so far as the airport was concerned I was sure British companies would be interested in the same way as they would be interested if Hong Kong decided to build a new airport.
