Employment (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 1988

SECRETARY FOR EDUCATION AND MANPOWER:

Sir,

لله ل

would like to thank Members for their support

and their useful comments.

Some Members have expressed concern at the time

MT.

taken to introduce these amendments. As my colleague,

Ron Bridge, pointed out in this Council on 25 May in reply

to a question from Mr. TAM Yiu-chung, we need to be

careful in making sure that the wording of the Bill is

clear, particularly in respect of the provisions for

payment upon the death of an employee and for that payment

to go to the right person. The fact that Members now

consider the legal language satisfactory is sufficient

evidence that the time taken is well worth it.
