To protect public health and safety, operators of
unlicensed food businesses are currently prosecuted under the Food
Business (Urban Council)/(Regional Council) By-laws of the Public
Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Chapter 132). If the
licence has not been issued upon the second conviction, the Urban
li Council and Regional Council would apply to the fourt for a
le Prohibition order or a Closure order under section 128 of the
principal Ordinance to stop the illegal food operators from
continuing with their unlicensed food businesses.
