Three years may be a long time but as this is an exceptionally important piece of legislation, it is essential that we get it right and that it has the support of the community. I am confident, Sir, that with the support of the legal profession and the community, the new procedure will go a long way towards reducing the length and cost of complex commercial crime trials without impinging upon the rights of

the accused.
