In the case referred to by Mrs. Fan, the wall which collapsed was an internal non-load-bearing partition and the structure of the building was not at risk.
Sir, there are about 2,700 schools in Hong Kong and it is the fovernment's view that it should be the schools'
responsibility to ensure that their premises are properly maintained in a safe condition. The Government will
continue to provide advice and assistance in the manner continuave that I described, and, on the whole, considers that the existing procedures, correctly adhered to, are
satisfactory.
