In view of the large number of guest houses operating in Chungking Mansions and the casualties in

will Government inform this Council how many fire incidents have occurred in that building in the past three years, what the causes of these fires were, and what remedial measures will be taken to abate the fire hazards in that building so as to step up the protection of life and property of the residents and to safeguard against any potential harm that might be done to the tourist industry?

were 29 fire incidents in Chungking Mansions. The
causes of these fires were as follows :
