I shall support a

Boards (Amendment)
Bill 1988 which Bill
proposes to tighten up slightly provisions governing the
removal from office of district board members who fail to
attend any meeting for six consecutive months, by adding a
new stipulation that prior approval must be obtained from
the board, except in the case of prolonged illness. Under
such circumstances,
subsequent approval could be
obtained.
Sir,
This proposal is made presumably because there
was a demand from some district boards and district board
members during the 1987 District Administration Review.
[ Now although the proposal is acceptable to me, I doubt, Bit is really all that necessary particularly if the

intention is to allow district boards to grow up to make
their own decisions and to be held responsible for them, And the Administrations willingness
