5. Lord Geddes concluded by saying that both Chinese and European interlocuters in Hong Kong had expressed great admiration for Sir D Wilson. Inevitably, they did not agree with the Governor about everything - it was typical of Hong Kong that some had even complained that he had not been there when the Stock Market had closed. But the overwhelming majority thought that he had made a Lord Glenarthur said that our own view was that very good start. Sir D Wilson was doing extremely well in difficult circumstances. He would continue to receive our full support.
