From The Minister of State

Year Lydia,

I know that Geoffrey Howe has written separately to thank you for all the work you did in London during the run up to last week's debate on Hong Kong. But I wanted to drop you a line of thanks myself; and to say how pleased I was that we were able to have a talk and to see a bit of the House of Lords.

I hope it will be possible to see you again on my next visit to Hong Kong which, as I mentioned to you on Wednesday, is now scheduled to take place at the end of February.

Lunch next time!
