Martin Lee's Visit to the U.S.
Information about this visit continues to filter through. The latest is from Henry Gaw, President of the Hong Kong Association
Mr. Gaw attended a lunch with Martin Lee of Southern California. in Los Angeles over Easter weekend. About twelve, fairly prominent, Chinese professionals, managers, and businessmen with Hong Kong connections or background were present. Martin Lee apparently gave his usual pro-democracy line. According to Mr. Gaw, on this occasion he was not over critical of the Hong Kong or British
Apparently, however, he did try to persuade those governments. present to write to the Chinese government expressing their concern over future constitutional arrangements in Hong Kong, and to take an active interest in the various issues surrounding Hong Kong's future.

Mr. Gaw said that both he and the others present were impressed by Martin Lee's manner and sincerity and by a number of the

Apparently he was well and truly roasted by Martin Lee, and more particularly by his friends and supporters after the event.
