Action Taken
Mr
51,
HMS TAMAR
As agreed I spoke over the telephone to
Ji Shaoxiang of NCNA, this morning, about the article
in yesterday's Hongkong Standard. I said that I
assumed that he had not taken the article at face
value, but he might like to know from me that the
British Government was not including Tamar in its
current planning for a future Consulate-General.
Nor was the Hong Kong Government looking at Tamar
as a future police headquarters. As he would know,
however, the reference to redevelopment of the site
did have some foundation.
2.
Ji thanked me and said he would report to
his leaders.
