6. The designated authorities shall communicate directly with each other for the execution of requests made under the provisions of this article. designated authority shall, when necessary, appoint an agency to execute such requests.

Requests for mutual legal assistance shall be made in writing by the authority or by the agency of the requesting Party to the authority of the requested Party.

Requests for mutual legal assistance shall contain such information as the requested Party may require, including:

(a) The title of the authority making the request;
(b)
(c)
The object of, and the reason for, the request;
An outline of any procedural requirements essential to the requesting Party;
(d) Requirements for confidentiality, where necessary.
A request shall be executed in accordance with the law of the requested Party and, to the extent not precluded by the law of the requested Party, in accordance with the procedural requirements specified in the request.
10. The requesting Party shall not disclose or use information or evidence furnished by the requested Party for purposes other than those stated in the request without the prior consent of the requested Party. The requesting Party may require that the requested Party keep confidential the substance of the request except to the extent necessary to execute the request.

Mutual legal assistance may be refused:
(a) If the request is not made in conformity with the provisions of this article; or
(b) If the requested Party considers that execution of the request is likely to prejudice its sovereignty, security or other essential interests.
12. Mutual legal assistance may be postponed on the ground that it interferes with an ongoing investigation or prosecution. In such a case, the requested Party shall consult with the requesting Party to determine if the assistance can be given subject to such terms and conditions as the requested Party deems necessary.

The Parties shall carry out their obligations under the provisions of this article in conformity with any treaties of mutual legal assistance that may exist between them and consider, as may be necessary, the possibility of concluding bilateral or regional agreements that would serve the purposes, give practical effect to the provisions of, this article.
