(a) the text of all laws and regulations from time to time promulgated in

order to give effect to this Convention, and

(b)

significant developments in the illicit traffic within their territories.

The Parties shall furnish, as soon as possible after the event, a report to the Secretary-General in respect of any case of illicit traffic or seizure from such illicit traffic which they consider important because of the new trends disclosed, the quantities involved, the light thrown on the sources from which the controlled substances are obtained or the methods employed by illicit traffickers. Copies of the report shall be communicated in accordance with subparagraph (b) of article IV.

The Parties shall furnish the information referred to in paragraph 1 in such a manner and by such dates as the Commission may request.

Article IV

CO-CORDINATION AGENCY

Having due regard to their constitutional, legal and administrative systems, the Parties shall:

(a) Make arrangements at the national level for the co-ordination of

preventive, investigative and repressive action against the illicit traffic, in particular for ensuring effective co-operation under article 6; to this end, they shall [variant: may usefully] designate an appropriate agency responsible for such co-ordination which may [variant: may with advantage] be the same as, or work in close co-operation with, the agency which may have been designated in accordance with article 35, paragraph (a), of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, 1961, and that Convention as amended by the 1972 Protocol amending the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, 1961 or article 21, paragraph (a), of the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances.

Assist each other in the campaign against the illicit traffic, and in particular immediately transmit, through the diplomatic channel or the competent authorities designated by the Parties for this purpose, to the other Parties directly concerned, a copy of any report addressed to the Secretary-General under article III in connection with the discovery of a case of illicit traffic or a seizure;

Co-operate closely with each other and with the competent international organizations of which they are members with a view to maintaining a co-ordinated campaign against the illicit traffic;

Ensure that international co-operation between the appropriate agencies be conducted in an expeditious manner; and

Ensure that, where legal papers are transmitted internationally for the purpose of judicial proceedings, the transmittal be effected in an expeditious manner to the appropriate authorities designated by the Parties in accordance with article 5, paragraph 5.
