THE INDEPENDENT COMMISSION AGAINST CORRUPTION (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1987
(No. 51 of 1987)
Enclosure No. Z
This Ordinance amends the Independent Commission Against Corruption Ordinance, following a general review of the main legislation under which the Commission operates.
2. Section 4 amends the list of related offences (that is, offences closely related to corruption) for which a Commission officer may make an arrest, in order to take into account changes in the statutory law relating to offences of theft and obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception.
3. Section 6 inserts a new section giving Commission officers power to rearrest a suspect on Commission bail who may be about to break bail. The powers are similar to those exercised by police officers generally.
4. Other amendments adjust monetary penalties or are of a procedural or drafting nature.
5. Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
