An Ordinance to amend the Corrupt and Illegal Practices Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent
of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Corrupt and Illegal Practices Short title. (Amendment) Ordinance 1987.
2.
Section 10 of the principal Ordinance is amended—
(a) by being renumbered as subsection (1); and
(b) by inserting after subsection (1) the following—
"(2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of sec- tion 17(1) or (2) shall be deemed to be guilty of an illegal practice and shall be liable
(a) on summary conviction to a fine of $500;
(b) on conviction on indictment to a fine of $2,000, and shall be incapable during a period of 7 years from the date of his conviction of being registered as an elector or voting at any election.".
Amendment of section 10.

3. The principal Ordinance is amended by adding after section 16 the Addition of following-
"False claim of support.
17. (1) No candidate shall, without reasonable excuse, before or during any election for the purpose of promoting or procuring his election at such election use or publish in any form whatsoever the name or device of any person or organ-
