THE EVIDENCE (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1986

(No. 67 of 1986)

This Ordinance amends the Evidence Ordinance

for the following purposes

(a) to provide that copies of the records of banks

which have gone into liquidation or otherwise ceased to carry on business, whether in Hong Kong or overseas, may be admitted in evidence in criminal proceedings (sections 2, 3, 4 and 5(b));

(b) to provide that, as an alternative to originals,

photographic copies of documents may be annexed to depositions tendered in evidence under section 77F(1)(c) or (d) in criminal proceedings (section 5(a)(i) and (ii)).

2. Before the Deputy to the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
