Similarly, Telco does not recommend accoustic
coupling equipment for data or facsimile services due to its
inferior performance compared with directly coupled
equipment. However, Telco cannot prohibit and makes no
attempt to prohibit this type of installation.

In practice it is found that most users with a
serious and high volume need for data or facsimile transmitted
on the public switched telephone network install a separate
line by choice. This is because the resultant service quality
is superior and because incoming calls for a facsimile
terminal are automatically answered, and voice calls are not
normally received on the special facsimile telephone line.
