The pros and cons of operating a Cable Television pilot scheme have been reviewed at length by the Board of Directors of Cable Television Hong Kong Limited. While the Board is convinced that a strong market for the service does exist, having explored fully the merits of a pilot scheme the Board has decided to revert to its early plan to do a pilot scheme in Taikoo Shing which had the consent of the Executive Council.
It would like to modify the plan to include the first class hotels in its pilot scheme.
We understand that in confirming that Government has no objection to our proceeding with such a plan, no commitment is expressed or implied by Government with respect to the issuance of a licence to CTHK to operate a cable TV system.
