You will be aware of recent protests made by the Hong Kong Journalists' Association, supported by my Union, about the Public Order (Amendment) Bill which affects media freedom in Hong Kong. The General Secretary of the Hong Kong Journalists Association, Mr. Wong Kwok-Wah, is visiting Britain next week with a view to making representations to Her Majesty's Government and to Opposition Parties about the effects of the Bill.
Mr. Wong Kwok-Wah has particularly asked if you would be kind enough to meet him, with Mr. Nigel Armstrong, a representative of the Journalists Association, early next week. Because their stay in Britain is short, and in the light of other commitments, it would be very much appreciated if such a meeting could take place on Monday or Tuesday, 30th or 31st March. They will however be in the United Kingdom until 3rd April and if necessary can alter their schedule if you cannot meet them on 30th or 31st March.
I realise this is very short notice for such a meeting, but in view of the urgency of the issue and the timing of Mr. Wong Kwok-Wah's visit, it would be very much appreciated if you could accommodate them.
