THE EXPATRIATE INSPECTORS' ASSOCIATION
2.
The Expatriate Inspectors' Association (EIA) held its Annual General Meeting (ACM) on the 26th May 1987. The meeting was attended by about 100 officers.
3.
subjects:
The Chairman addressed the meeting covering the following
(a) Localisation
The Association was of the view that details of the policy and strategy related to this subject were now known to all and expressed the opinion that if an overseas officer was adversely affected by localisation the levels of compensation proposed appeared adequate at this time. The Association wes also satisfied with assurancer it had received that promotions will continue to be handled fairly and not used as a back-door way of achieving localisation on the cheap,
(b) The New Fension bcheme
Disappointment was expressed that the new legislation did not take into account the special position of the Folice Force where members had to retire at 55 years of age. Lembers were advised to examine their options carefully in making a decision on whether or not to opt for the new scheme.
(a) Linked Agreements
Satisfaction was expressed at the reintroduction of linked agreements for Inspectorate officers.
(d) The Annual Leave Scheme
The attention of members was drawn to the loss of leave earning should they opt for this scheme. The Association's view was that the price which would have to be paid for the extra passages was too high.
