from force to force.

I am sure you will agree that such criteria will be a matter for the individual when he decides which force he wishes to join. Of more fundamental importance, however, is the question of the nationality qualification for membership of a 1964 Act Police Force and for your information this is as

follows.

An applicant to a UK Police Force must be either:

1.

A citizen of the UK.

A citizen of the Irish Republic.

2.

3.

A citizen of the British Commonwealth but only one who has been admitted to the UK without any landing restrictions whatsoever.

I trust this information will assist you in formulating a reply to the Hong Kong Department, but please do not hesitate to ask if you require further information.
