Thank you for your letter of 3 December. I have now found where the relevant papers have come to rest in the Home Office. I much regret that they have not as yet been given any priority and no progress has been made since I last checked the position. I shall take this up directly with the Head of the Division concerned.

Keith Shipley wrote separately to us in September concerning more general worries, which we have pursued within the Foreign Office. Keith's questions covered members of HMOCS, other civil servants, and their children and their eligibility to be considered for certain jobs in the UK. Action is properly in hand on this question (and a copy of my correspondence with the Home Office is being considered in this context), and we are expecting a response in the reasonably near future. I hope this will help us to put pressure on the Home Office.
