THE PNEUMOCONIOSIS (COMPENSATION)

This Ordinance amends the Pneumoconiosis (Compensation) Ordinance in order that

the Pneumoconiosis Compensation Fund can be used to finance educational, publicity, research and other programmes to prevent pneumoconiosis (sections 2 and 3);

the Governor can require the Pneumoconiosis Compensation Fund Board to modify and resubmit its annual programme or estimates, and the Board can vary its estimates (section 4); and

the Board can write off any debt which it reasonably considers irrecoverable (section

5).

Before the Deputy to the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof.

This Ordinance may be cited as the Banking (Amendment) Ordin- Short title.

Section 2(1) of the principal Ordinance is amended—

Amendment of section 2.

(a) by inserting after the definition of "advertisement" the following— (Cap. 155.)

"“approved currency” means a currency----

(a) freely convertible into Hong Kong dollars; or

(b) approved by the Commissioner;"; and

(b) by deleting paragraph (b)(i) of the definition of "deposit" and

substituting the following—

"(i) upon terms involving the issue, by any company, of debentures or other securities in respect of which a prospectus has been registered under the Companies Ordinance;”.

Section 3(1) of the principal Ordinance is amended—

(a) in paragraph (h), by deleting “or professional accountant (within

the meaning of the Professional Accountants Ordinance)"; and

"(1) any person for remittance outside Hong Kong; or
