for Category A officers (officers holding established offices and confirmed to the permanent establishment at the time of their retirement) 1/675 for each month of pensionable service (if he has service in non-established office (hitherto known as non-pensionable office) prior to 1 April 1987, only 675/800 of such service can. be taken as pensionable service);
for Category B officers (officers occupying non-established offices (hitherto known as non-pensionable offices) and officers occupying
established offices (hitherto known as pensionable offices) but not confirmed to the permanent establishment at retirement)
(i) 1/800 for service before
1 April 1987,
(ii) 1/675 for service as from
1 April 1987.
The maximum pension payable is two-thirds of the highest pensionable emoluments.
(C) Eligibility for pension and short service.
gratuity
Officers who retire under approved circumstances set out in Annex A (i) after completing the specified qualifying service are eligible for annual pension. Those who retire with service less than the specified qualifying service will only be eligible for a one-off payment of short service gratuity which is 7 times the annual pension which would have been payable had there been no requirement for qualifying service.
(D) Commuted pension gratuity
Officers eligible for annual pension may opt to commute, in steps of 5%, up to 50% of their pension for a pension gratuity at a commutation factor of 14. If they so opt, they will receive, in lieu of their pension, a lump sum commuted pension gratuity plus a correspondingly reduced annual pension.
