The Deputy Surveyor-in-charge visited Seattle in connection with the Maintenance Review Board and certification programme of the CPA B747-400, and for the issue of the Certificate of Airworthiness for VR-HVZ.

The Surveyor visited Singapore for the re-approval of several aviation firms.

Fifty-five ambulance calls were dealt with.

At 1847 on 6 July, fire appliances were despatched to Bay 16 to attend a B747 which experienced a forward cargo compartment fire warning signal. Investigation revealed a malfunctioning smoke detector.

At 1530 on 12 August, fire appliances were sent to Bay 8 to attend a DC10 emitting smoke from its undercarriage. Hydraulic fluid was found to be leaking from the central undercarriage wheel well.
