II. Project Progress since ATP

1. Implementation of Three Main Contracts

FRA and GEC have placed orders for the most of the main

components of Nuclear Islands and Conventional Islands

respectively. At present, the auxiliary equipment is being

ordered. The manufacturing of main components is on schedule.

Under the Project Services Contract, EdF is providing services

such as design, technical management, training, quality

assurance, etc. including the technical supervision

of the

implementation of the contracts by FRA and GEC, the preparation

of bid specifications for Balance of Plant and civil works.

Site Works

Excavation for the foundations of Unit 1 and Unit 2 Nuclear

Islands has been completed. The blinding concrete of the

gallery and under-raft started on 26th March, 1987 and unit 1

has been completed. The water-proofing concrete of the

gallery started on 23rd April, 1987. Now over 50% has been

completed.

About 84% excavation for the foundation of Conventional

Islands has been completed. Arrangement has been made to perform a first geological inspection of Unit 1 Conventional

Island by the end of May.

61% excavation at the Pumping House and the Water Intake

Channel has been completed. 87% excavation of the Water

Discharge Channel has been

finished within May.

About 56% backfilling and compaction has been completed.
