Let me summarize: The main elements of the energy supply in the
foreseeable future are well known. There are not many ways in which we
can supply the electric energy which will be needed to achieve further
development. The main choice will most often be between coal and nuclear
fuel. There are some serious concerns about nuclear power in several
countries but a public information and a renewed record of good
operations should help to allay them.
Nuclear power programmes are now
being pursued vigorously in 32 countries and the Chernobyl accident,
although its impact was important for the concerns in some countries, has
not influenced the global developments in a significant manner.
