Friday, October 23 - Workere at the Daya Bay plant had resumed preparing metal bars for the foundation raft in question in accordance with the remedial measures proposed by the Electricite de France, Ming Pao reported in moderate coverage, quoting sources.

In another development, Tin Tin Daily News quoted the director of the public relations department of the Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company, Yu Jiechun, as saying that the report on the construction fault being compiled would contain comprehensive answers to questions raised by members of the press and other public figures in HK.

The South China Morning Post carried an article on how the defects occurred at the plant.

The report said that the construction bungle at the Daya Bay plant happened because of a combination of factors involving error, mismanagement and inadequate site monitoring.

Senior officials from the plant had confirmed in interviews with the paper that there were problems in implementing design requirements in the project.

Commentaries Sing Tao Wan Pao (22.10) said in a short commentary yesterday that HK people should keep a close watch on the report on the incident so that they would be informed of what effective remedial measures would be taken.

The Express (23.10), said editorially that demands and queries relating to the Daya Bay incident put forward to the HK Government by Legco members showed that they had reflected HK people's opinion.

The move by Legco members showed that they had tried their best to ensure the safety of the plant.

Saturday, October 24 - Legco members decided at an in-house meeting on Friday to continue pressing the Government for detailed replies on four questions relating to the construction fault at the Daya Bay plant submitted by the Legco ad hoc group on the Daya Bay project, the media reported in moderate coverage today.

Omelco Member Allen Lee told newsmen after the meeting that Legco members wanted to find out an answer from the Government on the progress of its consideration of a proposal by the Legco group to appoint independent consultants to study the feasibility of the remedial measures for the fault.
