Wednesday, October 28 - The Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company would send experts to HK in due course to explain details of the remedial measures for the construction fault at the foundation raft of Unit 1 reactor at the Daya Bay plant, several papers reported, quoting chairman of the HK Nuclear Investment Company William Stones.
Speaking to reporters after attending a 10-hour meeting of the JVC in Shenzhen yesterday, Mr Stones said that the executive committee of the JVC had discussed the proposed remedial measures in an objective manner.
He stressed that the nuclear plant at Daya Bay would continue to be built under safe conditions.
The general manager of the HKNIC, Sir Jack Cater, was quoted As saying that the report on the construction incident and remedial measures would be completed within seven days.
Ching Po quoted a high-level JVC source as saying that the JVC had basically made a decision on the construction incident.
The source said that the JVC would inform the contractors within this week to continue their work on the foundation raft of Unit 1 in accordance with technical solutions agreed by the JVC.
