Wednesday, November 4 People from the engineering and technology sectors and members of the press from HK were briefed by officials of the Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company on the latest situation relating to the construction fault at the foundation raft for Unit 1 nuclear reactor when they visited the Daya Bay plant yesterday, the media reported in prominent and extensive news and pictorial coverage.
Ta Kung Pao noted that it was the first time the site was opened to people from HK since the construction fault was detected.

General Manager of the JVC Zan Yunlong told reporters that work on the foundation in question would resume within days as the five requirements governing the resumption of work set by the JVC had been

Mr Zan said that the remedial measures had been rectified by the Electricite de France and endorsed by the Chinese National Nuclear Safety Administration.
He was quoted as saying that costs for the remedial work would be borne by the contractors.

In an exclusive report published on the front page, the HK Daily News quoted reliable sources as saying that the construction fault was the result of problems in the blueprint.
In HK, a Government spokesman was quoted by the papers as saying that the Government had requested the JVC not to resume work before the completion of the final report on the construction incident.
The spokesman said that it was not yet known whether the JVC would accept the Government's request.
