32 mm. In general, one diameter is used up to a ceatre and then there is a change to the several such changes over the full radius of the raft.

The inversions in diameter (ie. the use of 32 mm in place of 25 conversa) occurred mostly at the boundary between areas of 32 and 25 mm bars. In most cases 32 om bars were used where etrict interpretation of drawings would allow 25 but in a few cases there was the converse. AB

work progressed outwards some additional bars were prepared to compensate for the use of slightly more 32 mm bars than required in the inner area.

in

As the

the work progressed outwards there was another situation arising where there were practical difficulties in fixing one particular shape of bar the location shown on the drawings. Due to the limited space availabla there were 255 of these bare which could only be placed in location,

a nearby However, to ensure strict compliance

compliance with the drawings, 255 replacement bars were made to a slightly different shape et the lower end which enable them to be put in the required place. Both the original bars and the new bars were installed by the contractor; thereby accounting for the net surplus of bars in the final installation.

Although these points have no consequence on the design, and although che contractor took reasonable practical action under the circumstances follow the drawings, the details should have been reported to JVC at the time they occurred. This lack of reporting has since been corrected. The EdF designers take no exception to the presence of these bars,
