I have briefed Eric Hayes (Assistant to Leslie Fielding, Director-General, DGI) and John Beck (DGI) in confidence on the latest developments. They were grateful to be put in the picture; and said that the Commission would give us what support they could (though the CCC was not within DGI's sphere of activity). I said that we had already spoken to DGXXI, who had responded helpfully.
