Your Excellency,
Admission of Hong Kong as a separate Member of the Customs Co-operation Council.
Under date of 1 September 1987, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, External Trade and Development Co-operation notified me that the admission of Hong Kong as a separate Member of the Customs Co-operation Council had been recorded with effect from 1 July 1987. The Ministry has notified this admission to all Members of the Customs Co-operation Council. As regards Hong Kong itself, the Ministry's notification has been transmitted through the Belgian Embassy in London to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and through the Belgian Consulate in Hong Kong to the Hong Kong authorities.
As regards the financial obligations resulting from this admission, under Rule 5 (h) of the Financial Rules a provisional rate for Hong Kong's contribution to the Customs Co-operation Council's budget for the financial year 1 July 1987 30 June 1988 has been fixed at 0.30%. Total contributions for the year were fixed at BF. 322,600,000 by Decision No. 255 so that the contribution due by Hong Kong amounts to BF. 967,800. In addition, an advance which has been provisionally fixed at BF. 67,500 is payable to the Working Capital Fund. These provisional figures will be submitted for the Council's approval at its 1988 Sessions.
His Excellency
Mr. P.C. PETRIE, C.M.G.,

Plenipotentiary of Great Britain,
