During the year, the Office moved from
separate locations to the new Government Offices at
Queensway. As regards staffing, accommodation and
equipment, the Office has been given the full
support of the Civil Service Branch and other
authorities and the Commissioner records
appreciation of the understanding shown to the various requests made during the year. Recruitment
interviews have been completed for the increased
complement and the new staff should begin to arrive
over the next few months.

Banks and deposit-taking companies pay licence and registration fees in Hong Kong and
additional fees for branches in Hong Kong and for
branches and representative offices overseas for institutions incorporated in Hong Kong. Foreign banks are also required to pay fees for representa- tive offices maintained in Hong Kong. The revenue
from these fees was about $94 million in 1985/86 and
estimated to be about $108 million in 1986/87.
