Four Senior Bank Examiners have attended the three-

U.S. Federal Reserve Banking

week course of

the

School for Bank

Examiners.

Their study reports

showed that they were fully up to the standard

required. At a more junior level, staff have

attended courses to acquire their relevant

professional qualifications. Full advantage has been taken of the programmes conducted by the Civil

Service Training Centre and senior officers have

conducted induction and refresher courses for new

and junior staff. Training and operational needs

have, of course, to be kept in balance but to

supervise an industry undergoing fundamental

adjustments, the emphasis on training will

undoubtedly need to be increased.

19.

As regards qualifications, all Senior Bank

Examiners who supervise the examination teams and

the Bank Examiners who lead the teams are

professionally qualified either in banking or in

accountancy. At the junior level some staff are also fully qualified while the majority of the

others are in the course of gaining their

qualifications. Fifty-three staff are qualified; 80

junior staff are in the process of qualifying.

Office is being brought about by computerisation.

Authority was given for the project at the end of

1984 and the contract was awarded to Prime Computers
