MR CHEONG:
Could I ask what is the average length of
sentence that these people serve, that they keep themselves in maximum
3 security?
4
5
CCS:
We would keep a person in maximum security
6
with a sentence over six years.

MR CHEONG:
How long would you keep them into maximum

A balance of about three years to serve.

Yes.
Then we would probably move them on.
Not necessarily move them on, depending who they are. Murderers we don't move on. That is if they have a determinate sentence.
So would I be correct in assuming that anybody in the maximum security prison would generally have a three year duration during that period?
That is true, but there is another point to consider. Many of these men are extremely dangerous and cannot be put in workshops where tools are available, because they do stab each other
and the staff, they do. We can't trust them.
