27. The Head of the Commonwealth Liaison Mission (British

Defence Attache) is responsible for the administration of the

Mission. In general, maintenance of the Mission is through the United States Army. However, logistic and personnel matters, other than those which are of a purely Australian or New Zealand

nature, should be dealt with through your headquarters.

28. You are to provide a ceremonial detachment of British

troops from your land forces in Hong Kong as the British

Contingent to the United Nations Command Korea ceremonial honour

guard. This detachment is to be under the command of the

British Defence Attache whilst in Korea. In the event of

disturbances or an emergency in Korea it should be employed in a defensive role under the orders of the British Defence Attache,

as agreed by HM Ambassador in Seoul, until further instructed.

BRITISH GURKHAS NEP AL

29.

As Commander of British Gurkhas Nepal you are to be responsible for the administration of British Gurkhas Nepal

(BRIGNEPAL).

MINOR COMMITMENTS

30. The Services in Hong Kong may be given minor commitments outside your area of responsibility in addition to any already delegated by Commander-in-Chief Fleet to the Captain-in-Charge Hong Kong. Detailed guidance on these additional commitments

will be given to you either by the Ministry of Defence or

through the appropriate single-Service authorities. It will be

necessary to obtain Foreign and Commonwealth Office clearance

in each instance for the assumption of these commitments by you.
