ANNEX A TO CDS 6/84
1. You are appointed Commander British Forces Hong Kong and this Directive defines your responsibilities with immediate effect. It supersedes your present Directive (1) and will
remain in force until further notice.
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY AND OPERATIONAL AREA
2. Your Area of Responsibility and Operational Area comprises
the land area of the Territory of Hong Kong (including the New
Territories) together with the sea defence area, defined as the sea area within fifty nautical miles radius of Kowloon Clock Tower (22 degrees 17.7 minutes North; 114 degrees
10.03 minutes East).
3. You have no operational responsibilities outside these areas.
STRATEGIC AIM
4.
To maintain the British position in Hong Kong in accordance
with the policy of HM Government.
TASK
5.
Your task is to assist the Hong Kong Government to maintain stability and security and to sustain confidence in HMG's intention to maintain the British position in the Territory
